Interested in experiencing an occupational therapy graduate class firsthand? Join us for a virtual sample class, led by CPH faculty member Cynthia Abbott-Gaffney.
Occupational therapy practitioners support individuals across the lifespan in navigating barriers to engagement in meaningful occupations. Telehealth was previously an emerging niche as an OT delivery model, and the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the scaling and adaptation of digital health intervention and telehealth technologies. OT practitioners around the globe pivoted quickly to incorporate telehealth use into practice, at times with minimal training. As one of the editors of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists’ Position Paper on OT and telehealth, Dr. Abbott-Gaffney will lead participants through case-based examples.
This lecture will explore the basics of synchronous and asynchronous technology use for meaningful promotion of occupational engagement for the individuals OT practitioners serve. Most importantly, the constructs that lead to successful intervention and best practices will be highlighted.
