Physics Colloquium Series: Quantum computing for nuclear many-body systems

    College of Science and Technology

Quantum computing for nuclear many-body systems

    Dean Lee, Michigan State University

The first part of this colloquium talk is an introduction to quantum computing that explains the basic components.  After this, I discuss difficult tasks in nuclear physics where quantum computing could provide an advantage over classical computing.  In particular, I discuss eigenstate preparation methods such as the rodeo algorithm and the implementation of nuclear lattice simulations on a quantum computer.
