Mónica de la Torre’s most recent book of poems and experimental translations is Repetition Nineteen. Other collections include The Happy End/All Welcome—a riff on a riff on Kafka's Amerika—and Public Domain. She has published several books in Spanish, including Taller de Taquimecanografía, written jointly with the eponymous women artists' collective she co-founded. With Alex Balgiu, she co-edited the anthology Women in Concrete Poetry 1959–79. She has translated numerous works from the Spanish, most recently Omar Cáceres’s Defense of the Idol, and is co-editor of the volume Reversible Monuments: Contemporary Mexican Poetry. A recipient of a 2022 Creative Capital grant and the 2022 Foundation for Contemporary Arts C. D. Wright Award for Poetry, she teaches poetry at Brooklyn College.
The Poets & Writers Series is sponsored by the Temple University MFA Program in Creative Writing, with the assistance of the Department of English and the Richard Moyer Fund. Each year a number of poets and fiction writers are invited to read from and discuss their work to members of both the Temple community and the local Philadelphia arts scene. All events are free and open to the public.
