A Reading & Conversation with Jena Osman
Mei-mei Berssenbrugge was born in Beijing and grew up in Massachusetts. She is the author of fourteen books of poetry, including Hello, the Roses; Empathy; and I Love Artists, as well as collaborations in theater, dance, music, and visual art. Her 2020 collection, A Treatise on Stars (New Directions), received the Bollingen Prize for American Poetry and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. Other honors include the Mary McCarthy Award, two American Book Awards, and two Asian American Writers Book Awards. She lives in northern New Mexico.
The Poets & Writers Series is sponsored by the Temple University MFA Program in Creative Writing, with the assistance of the Richard Moyer Fund and the Department of English. Each year a number of poets and fiction writers are invited to read from and discuss their work to members of both the Temple community and the local Philadelphia arts scene. All events are free and open to the public.
