Susan (Sue) Landers is a Brooklyn-based, Philly-bred poet and pedestrian. She is the author of four poetry collections. Her latest book, What to Carry Into the Future (Roof Books, 2025) emerged from riding every New York City subway from end to end. Set within New York City’s subways, treescapes, and waterways, the collection charts the continuous aftermath of catastrophe alongside the city’s many pleasures. Landers is also the author of Franklinstein (Roof Books, 2016), a multi-genre collection about Germantown, Philadelphia. Her poems have appeared in Poem-A-Day, The Brooklyn Rail, The Offing, and elsewhere. From 2018-2021, she served as the executive director of Lambda Literary. More at suelanders.com.
The Poets & Writers Series is sponsored by the Temple University MFA Program in Creative Writing, with the assistance of the Department of English and the Richard Moyer Fund. Each year a number of poets and fiction writers are invited to read from and discuss their work to members of both the Temple community and the local Philadelphia arts scene. All events are free and open to the public.
