Department Colloquium Series: Dr. Tor Wager, Dartmouth College Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences

Please join us for a talk by Dr. Tor Wager, who will be discussing "Prediction, Expectation, and the Placebo Effect".

He will explore research using human neuroimaging, systems neuroscience, bodily physiology, and behavior to address some of the age-old questions about the power of beliefs. How deep do the effects of beliefs penetrate into sensation and bodily physiology? How do beliefs become ‘locked in’ and resistant to new information?  Can positive beliefs have negative effects? Do beliefs play a role in physical ailments such as chronic pain? And can beliefs be harnessed to produce lasting clinical benefits?

Visit Dr. Wager's webpage to read more about him.
