Refugees & Resettlement: The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in the Vietnam War Era and Beyond

    Temple University Libraries

Temple University archivist Jessica Lydon will discuss the collection from HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) Pennsylvania, housed in the Special Collections Research Center. The collection highlights the organization's history resettling Jewish refugees in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and, also, includes materials about HIAS's efforts to assist refugees from the Vietnam War. Professor Dieu Nguyen, an historian of Vietnam and migration, and Cathryn Miller-Wilson, the Executive Director of HIAS Pennsylvania, will join Lydon for a panel discussion moderated by Professor Lila Corwin Berman about HIAS's history, its various resettlement efforts, and the work HIAS is doing to address today's refugee crisis.

Free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the Feinstein Center for American Jewish History.
