Denise Thompson will be presenting on her career path in architecture. Specifically, she will discuss how she got involved in architecture and healthcare design, her professional development involvement with AIA, and what it is like to be a Principal at FCA.
Denise Thompson is a Principal at FCA, where she has been a versatile member of the Healthcare team since 2003. She graduated from the Temple Architecture program in 2002 with a Bachelor of Architecture. She has been a guest lecturer and juror since graduating. Denise has also been adjunct faculty member supporting the Architectural History course and taught an Intro to Healthcare design course. She has a broad range of professional experiences, now focusing on healthcare projects of various sizes and specialties. She leads FCA’s sustainability efforts in healthcare, bringing extensive experience in green design to each project. Her passionate approach and commitment to environmentally responsible architecture have made her a key figure in the industry, as well as at FCA. Actively involved in the AIA, Denise served as 2016 AIA Philadelphia President. She now co-chairs the Academy of Architecture for Health Committee for AIA Philadelphia and has held other leadership roles. She is active in local mentorship groups bringing the profession to the next generation of architects. Denise was AIA Philadelphia’s 2025 Thomas U. Walter Award Recipient due to her long time commitment to the architectural community.
