In collaboration with Critical Dialogues, Visual Studies, Foundations, and Tyler's Disability Task Force, please join us for a lecture by visiting artist Shannon Finnegan. Through their art practice, Finnegan thinks about how we can move towards better and more nuanced approaches to access. Instead of focusing on compliance and doing the minimum, what if we approach access creatively and generously, centering disability culture? How do we make spaces and experiences that disabled people not only can access but want to access?
Finnegan has done projects with Banff Centre, Friends of the High Line, Tallinn Art Hall, Nook Gallery, and the Wassaic Project. In 2019 they were an artist-in-residence at Eyebeam. They live and work in Brooklyn, NY.
