For this first installment of Stories of Sustainability: Race to Zero Waste, we invite #EcoChampion, Jonathan Latko, Director of Temple's Computer Recycling Center. The Computer Recycling Center (CRC) is an award-winning operation that gathers surplus computer and electronic equipment from around the university to refurbish, redeploy, donate and, where appropriate, securely dispose of equipment. On average the CRC processes more than 90 tons of equipment each year.
Join Jonathan and the Office of Sustainability for a primer on e-waste -- the market, its challenges and Temple’s strategy and solutions. Plus, we'll connect the CRC's work to our institutional sustainability and climate action commitment, including questions of the digital divide and tech equity and access in North Philly.
In this three part series, Temple Sustainability highlights zero waste strategies from #EcoChampions on and off campus. We look to campus operations experts to dive deep into the challenges of waste management, to student leaders shaping zero waste culture in their organizations, and business innovators reimaging zero waste commerce. Join us for skill building opportunities with Leave No Trace and Green Grant winner, Adventure Bound, learn about the emergent zero waste shopping community and hot button issues of electronic waste here in Philly, and be a part of challenging and critical discussions about institutional impact and equity in upcycling.
