Hosted by Temple University’s Nutrition MPH program as the inaugural webinar of the TU Public Health Nutrition Seminar Series and by the Office of Sustainability as part of Earth Month 2024, this event serves to strengthen the climate conversation and forge partnerships to enhance weather disaster preparedness and solutions to sustain Philly food systems in the era of climate change. Join us as we share current challenges and projected needs for sustaining our local food systems amid increasing extreme weather events.

    Panelists include:

    • Jennifer (Aquilante) Robinson, food policy coordinator for Get Healthy Philly; nutrition and food service coordinator for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention
    • Erica Mines, food policy program manager for the Philadelphia Office of Sustainability's Food Policy Advisory Council
    • Alyssa Thayer, senior associate for the The Food Trust's Farmers Market Program
    • Jasmine Thompson, associate director for climate smart technical assistance at Pasa Sustainable Agriculture
    • Scott Sheely, president of the Philadelphia Society for Promoting Agriculture

The panel will be moderated by Marissa Cloutier, assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the College of Public Health.

Contact Dr. Cloutier at marissa.cloutier@temple.edu for more information about this event or to join the Sustaining Philly Food Systems Task Force, which aims to bring together urban and regional farmers, farmers market organizers, food relief organizations, public health practitioners, community advocates, academics, and students.
