The teaching philosophy statement is a self-reflective essay about your teaching practice. It is a narrative that explains your beliefs and goals about teaching and learning, the methods you use to help students reach those goals, and why you use those methods. A well-crafted teaching philosophy statement will provide examples and evidence of how students learn and how you know students are learning to demonstrate your effectiveness as a teacher.
In this workshop hosted by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Temple University, you will reflect on your own teaching practice, think about how to organize and gather your evidence, draft content for a statement (or revise an existing statement), and receive peer feedback.
