At 7pm on Wednesday, April 6, Film at International House will present a cinematic retrospective of three student films from the TFMA Film Archive. Hosted by Temple's Digital Cinema Lab Manager Leonard Guercio, there will be a screening of three student films made by Jan Krawitz, Temple alumna, filmmaker, and current Stanford University film professor, who will also be in attendance.
Krawitz's three student films, although all made in the 1970s, are refreshingly diverse and demonstrate her talent as a future filmmaker and professor. Among her films, Styx is now an iconic experimental short, shot entirely on the city's Broad Street subway line; Cotton Candy and Elephant Stuff is a fascinating documentary of an itinerant circus family and their struggles as a vanishing breed of tent show entertainers; A Chicken in Every Pot, another documentary, is set in Philadelphiia's famous Italian Market and examines the dreams and aspirations of a fish monger and his family who, still today, continue to operate the business and who also will be in attendance at the screening.
The IHouse/Temple film screening is free and open to the public. If you plan to attend, please RSVP.
