As part of the festivities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Temple University Rome, and the 30th anniversary of the Gallery of Art under the direction of Shara Wasserman, we are pleased to present Hide ‘n Seek, curated by the artist Veronica Montanino.
The exhibition explores the theme of the mask, and masking, and the many forms of expression of this pertinent topic, rendered so current by the Covid pandemic.
Most living beings mask themselves, both physically and psychologically. In the visual arts, masking is a metamorphosis of infinite, unpredictable and totally subjective variations that speak to the world and about the world.
The artists present in the exhibition represent a rich selection of Italian and international creators, as varied in their approach to art as they are to their version of what it means to mask. These include Bankeri, Matteo Basilè, Elena Bellantoni, Gadea Burgaz, Matt Dillon, Mauro Di Silvestre, Pablo Echaurren, Auriea Harvey, Elia Haine, Ali Kichou, Felice Levini, Franco Losvizzero, Veronica Montanino, Alberto Montorfano, Lulù Nuti, Luana Perilli, Virginia Ryan, Alice Schivardi and William Villalongo. In addition, the Gallery of Art presents a video compilation with music composed by Morgan Kelly Moss, BYR ’22.
Please note that to comply with Covid-19 safety measures, Temple Rome will limit the number of people permitted in the gallery space at one time. All guests are required to present a Green Pass, wear a mask and respect social distancing at all times.
