Calligraphy, a major traditional art known for its elegant beauty, with almost 2500 years of history, is a cultural symbol of China and a conveyor of Chinese philosophy.
The Joys of Calligraphy is a Chinese Calligraphy art exhibit by artist, Er Yang, associate professor and graduate student advisor at the College of Fine Arts, Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU). The Confucius Institute at Temple University is a partnership with ZJNU.
Professor Yang has been teaching calligraphy for 35 years. His works have been featured in the Chinese Calligraphy journal and he is among the Top One Hundred Calligraphers in the China Lanting Calligrapher’s Festival. He has held solo exhibitions in China and Hungary and published three manuscripts of his calligraphy work. Er Yang is also a member of the China Calligrapher’s Association and a member of the Academic Committee of the Provincial Calligrapher’s Association of Zhejiang.
This exhibit is in conjunction with Confucius Institute Day 2017 at Temple University and the Global Philly 2017 Expo.
