Join us for a lecture by Dr. John Elliott Churchville on the historical background of the symbiotic relationship between religion and politics. Dr. Churchill will also discuss the context of Black oppression within a Eurocentric religion/political nexus, as well as practical suggestions for confronting and struggling effectively against it.
Dr. Churchville is a civil rights activist and founder of Philadelphia’s Freedom Library Community Project, which later became the Freedom Library Day School. He is currently Chairman/CEO of the Liberation Fellowship Community Development Corporation, and author of Provocative Thoughts for Black Men and Conversations with My Progeny: An African Elder’s Legacy to the Young People in His Village.
This program is part of the Libraries' Beyond the Page public programming series.
