Hear from Tyler School of Art and Architecture faculty and graduate students on their work related to this year’s theme, the History and Future of the Book. Talks will be followed by a viewing of the SCRC’s current exhibit “The Architecture of the Book: Design and Structure in Artists’ Books.”
Alice Price received a PhD in art history from the Tyler School of Art. Her primary research concerns the Danish artist, Anna Ancher, within the intersecting cultural contexts of rural Denmark, the Skagen Art Colony, Copenhagen, and Paris. Dr. Price teaches art history at Tyler and architecture history at Jefferson University, College of Architecture and the Built Environment.
Katie Garth is an MFA candidate in printmaking at the Tyler School of Art. Her practice explores tensions between the everyday lived experience and the otherworldly and sublime. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with concentrations in printmaking, book arts, and graphic design.
Jenny Kowalski is a graphic and interactive designer and educator who sees design as a tool for both asking and answering questions, and her own research interests include experimental design for the screen, creative coding, and STEAM education. She earned her MFA in Graphic & Interactive Design from Tyler in 2018 and her BFA in Visual Communication Design from the University of Dayton in 2012.
Daniel Seth Kraus blends historical research with photography to deepen our understanding of people, places, and how they combine to create a culture. Kraus strives to create work which is informed and empathetic towards the subjects and his viewers.
