Did you know that since 1978, the cost of textbooks has increased 810% or 3x the inflation rate? Nationally, students are told to budget $1,200-$1,300 a year for books. That’s a lot of money!
One way faculty can make their courses more affordable for students is by assigning an open textbook. Open textbooks are digital books that are free to read, download, and print. In this workshop, we’ll provide an introduction to the world of open educational resources. We’ll discuss how to find high quality open textbooks in your discipline, and show you how these books can be customized to suit the needs of your particular class.
Special bonus: The first 10 instructors who register for one of these workshops and write a brief review of an open textbook that is accepted for publication by the Open Textbook Network will receive a $200 stipend.
