Visualizing Muslims: The 1819 Portrait of Yarrow Mamout and Why It Still Matters

    Please join us for a lecture and portrait viewing featuring the 1819 Portrait of Yarrow Mamout. Guest speakers will be:

    - Ruqayyah Rebecca Hankins, Texas A&M Professor

    - James H. Johnston, author of From Slave Ship to Harvard: Yarrow Mamout and the History of an African American Family

    - Dr. Carol Soltis, curator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

    The talk will be held in the Women's Stuides Lounge (821 Anderson Hall) from 12:30-2 and the portrait viewing and chat will be held afterwards fom 3-4pm, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
