Are you interested in helping make Philadelphia a sustainable, pedestrian friendly city?
Temple University is partnering with Clean Air Council and Feet First Philly this fall semester, working together to host a series of workshops designed to help community members 1.) connect with neighbors interested in protecting vulnerable populations and placemaking; 2.) learn urban planning and walk audit basics and gain a deeper understanding of what makes pedestrian spaces safe, 3.) gain tools to identify challenges and solutions to traffic violence and advocate for pedestrians and community needs.
These training workshops will occur over two hybrid group sessions and one in-person data collection outdoors in the Mount Airy Neighborhood of Philadelphia. Transportation to and from the Walk Audit site will be provided by the Office of Sustainability. Participants will also prepare a brief, informal group presentation on their findings throughout the event.
The Temple Walk Audit is an amazing opportunity for students interested in environmental justice, community development, and urban planning, and a great way to get real-life research experience that will contribute to a future in the environmental field.
