Wanda Benvenutti's American Boricua: Puerto Rican Life in the United States

Klein College of Media and Communication

    Hosted by Dean David Boardman

For 18 years, photojournalist Wanda Benvenutti has chronicled Puerto Rican cultural life in the United States. This discussion will explore her documentary photography project and reveal what she learned by interviewing Puerto Ricans from all walks of life for her forthcoming book.

Benvenutti is a freelance photojournalist, photo editor and writer. Her work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, The National Press Photographers Association, and The National Hispanic Journalists Association. Wanda's photographs are also featured in the book “100 New York Photographers” by Cynthia Maris Dantzic. She received a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and a Master of Science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Her book in progress, “American Boricua: Puerto Rican Life in the United States,” is the first national chronicle of Puerto Rican life in all 50 United States.
