It is possible that the largest war in Europe since 1945 is coming to an end; it has entered a phase of intense negotiation. This talk will focus on the choices facing the Trump administration, starting with the stakes of the war itself and continuing with the question of how Ukraine will fit into Europe, what territorial configuration it will take and what it might mean for the United States to normalize relations with Russia after a decade of conflict and tension. The Trump administration will note make its choices about Ukraine in a vacuum, and this talk will also examine the global context in which the war has been taking place and in which war termination might occur.
This event is in person and also available via Zoom.
