Dr Louisa Herring is the Physical Activity Research and Implementation Lead Research Associate at the Leicester Diabetes Centre's Lifestyle and Health Research Group in the UK.
Her research focuses on physical activity and multiple long-term conditions, particularly obesity and metabolic and bariatric surgery. She leads the translation of 24-hour movement behavior research into practical tools and pathways to enhance physical activity levels in clinical populations for overall health.
Dr Herring earned a PhD in Physical Activity, Lifestyle and Bariatric Surgery from Loughborough University, UK, while concurrently working as the Physical Activity Lead in an NHS weight management service. She has conducted multiple physical activity trials aimed at optimizing post-operative metabolic and bariatric surgery outcomes.
More recently, her work has focused on developing technology to measure, monitor, and promote personalized 24-hour movement behavior support, which is essential for overall health both before and after metabolic and bariatric surgery.
